Mission Statement: To empower individuals to find their internal strengths and external resources to live their richest, fullest, most meaningful life possible.
I opened a private practice to serve my local community. I have lived in Central Texas most of my life though grew up in the piney woods of East Texas. Early in my career I worked in Child Protective Services and felt helping children and families was the most important thing I could be doing to help build a strong community. I soon had children of my own and needed work that was more flexible. I continued to be involved with children through home studies and adoption studies, but also moved into the other end of the aging spectrum. I worked with a Home Health Agency, Nursing Homes and an Alzheimer’s Center. I loved to help give meaning and dignity to those near the end of their lives. During this time I owned a fitness center and have a strong belief in the importance of physical health in maintaining mental health. When my children entered their teens I decided to go into full time psychotherapy. I provided counseling services at a rural health clinic for 14 years and then I spent a year at a federally qualified healthcare center. Both experiences gave me an opportunity to work with a wide variety of ages, problems, and socioeconomic groups.
I love spending time with my 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. I love to travel and my favorite trips have been an Alaskan Cruise, a trip to the Netherlands to see the tulips, and a people to people tour of Cuba. I enjoy a variety of hobbies including hiking, gardening, dancing, and knitting.
